The website I chose is one that is owned by Taylor Swift herself. She has links to her biography, her journal (which she updates frequently), a link to different news articles about herself, a link to listen to her songs and watch her videos, a guestbook, a photo gallery, tour dates, and the list goes on. The website's layout is made to look like a scrapbook. The colors are vivid and eye-catching. She uses bright colors like hot pink, lime green, touquoise and yellow which work well because this website is aimed at teenage girls. The pictures she puts with each link are effective because they help show her personality. It helps that she uses audio, video, and text on her website. They each give off a different feeling. Her journal and her biography show how she is when she is really talking, her tone jumps out at you when you begin to read her journal entries. The music is nice to listen to while you read and if you're visiting this site, you are obviously a fan of Taylor and therefore enjoy listening to her music. The pictures and videos help show the kind of artist that Taylor is. Images definitely can have a different effect rhetorically that words cannot. By looking Taylor's pictures you are able to see her personality through her body language and the faces she makes. This can help to understand why she writes the music that she does. Some situations that words would be more appropriate that images would be maybe in something like a resume, or an apology. I probably wouldn't use images in anything like a college essay either.
