Journal 4

We've all seen the iPod ads before, the ones with the darkly shaded people dancing against a solid-colored background with a white iPod on them. What few people don't realize is that although the ad seems deceptively simple in appearance, it's actually quite brilliant. By choosing to black out the people dancing in the ads, Apple has created an Everyman. It's not a sports athlete or famous celebrity who no one can relate to, but actually a miraculous representation of the classic Everyman. Anyone could be that person dancing crazily with an iPod in hand. Not only that, but the simple, yet vibrant color scheme has it standing out and catching eyes. No words or some sarcastic saying, just the logo and the word "ipod" and the consumer instantly knows what the product is. Apple already has created such an empire that any saying or slogan would almost seem unnecessary. So congrats to you, Apple, your advertisement is successfully recognizable in any part of the world and ipods continue to fly off the shelves.
