Select an ad (found online) which you find particularly effective and analyze it. Why is it effective? What type of message does it convey? How does it do so? What choices has the author made which convey his/her message or intent? How does the ad try to convince its audience to buy its product?
When selecting an add ugg boots came to mind. I'm sure to all they are very comfortable. The word, "Ugg" simply means boots made out of 100 % sheep skin. The boots originated in Australia and they come in many colors and styles. This ad is very effective. Within this ad there is a couple which seems to be in their late twenties early thirties. They have huge smiles on their faces and are dressed in fashionable clothing while wearing ugg shoes. Not only are they smiling but they seem like they are having a great time while being in a cozy environment and are delighted to be with each other. In relations to the boots, uggs are made to make people feel comfort and a since of warmth. The boots bring a sense of peace within the wearer as shown in the picture. If the people within this picture didn't show great emotion or didn't look like they were enjoying themselves this ad would not be good advertisement. Based on this picture Uggs seem like a product you would want to buy since this picture makes you come to like the boots. The author has made the choices of adding the couple to make the boots seem like they will bring two people together whither it is friendship, dating, etc. He has also chosen to position the couple together with the guy's hand over the girl's head to show emotion and comfort, the hard wood floor also brings in the Austrian atmosphere, and he has chosen a younger couple to target younger buyers. All in all the ad makes me wont to go buy a pair of uggs. :)
