After reading "Hills like white elephants" I am a little confused. It is my understnading that there are 3 characters interacting in the story. A woman and man who seem to be in a relationship and a female bartender who is serving them drinks. The man and woman are waiting in a very hot area for their train to arrive and take them to Madrid, where the man is from. While they wait, they order a couple rounds of beers and the girl seems to be somewhat distracted, she keeps looking off into the distance at the hills, comparing them to white elephants. The man keeps bringing something up that the girl doesnt seem to want to talk about. Throughout the story it is unclear to the reader what they are talking about.
