This short story consists of two main characters, a young girl and older man she is traveling with. The two of them are in Spain, waiting the arrival of their train. Its hot out so they decide to get some drinks by the station. The two engage in conversation about a matter the man finds simple but the girl finds worrisome. The go back and forth. The girl wants to please the man and make sure that they will be happy like they once were and that he will love her if she does what he asks. From the dialogue you can tell that this 'thing' is ultimately her decision, so i think it has something to so with her well being and her body. During their conversation, the girl tries to chance the subject, so the title of the short story comes from one of the topics she goes on about, which were the hills she was looking out at while they were talking.
